Lackawanna Cut-Off Rehabilitation (Roseville Tunnel) - May 20, 2024

  ALL ABOARD ! --------------------------------------- Looking west towards the East Portal of the tunnel, with numerous lift trucks present and a now stagnant drainage canal on the left Here we go... First, concrete was sprayed on the interior of the tunnel.  Next, a yellow liner was applied, then short length metal rods were added in specific intervals. Long steel rods running lengthwise were then secured to those short length rods in order to secure the metallic mesh panels in place. Finally, I'm guessing, will be either a layer of sprayed concrete or tile. What a project !!!  Metallic mesh panels attached to the metal rods running lengthwise  Short metal rods protruding from the yellow liner This is the method for securing the yellow lining to the railbed The yellow liner has only been applied up to a little past the halfway point.     ALL ABOARD ! --------------------------------------- Looking west from atop the Roseville Tunnel Atop the west portal of the tunnel, looking towards Johnson Park --------------------------------------- The remainder of the photos are all at railbed level, at the east portal of the tunnel Looking east from just a ways past the east portal --------------------------------------- Note the trail/access road on the right, which today is used to bring construction vehicles to the top of the west portal.
