Lackawanna Cut-Off Rehabilitation (Roseville Tunnel) - March 18, 2025

For this first update of 2025, take notice of fencing that has
been placed before both the east and west portals, as well as
signage indicated that security cameras are in use.  I knew it
was coming, though figured it would have happened sooner
than later.  Oh well, walking through the tunnel during rehab
was fun while it lasted.

On another note, no new electrical conduit work on the
West Portal has taken place since my visit in late 2024.

Lackawanna Cut-Off Rehabilitation (Roseville Tunnel) - May 20, 2024

  ALL ABOARD ! --------------------------------------- Looking west towards the East Portal of the tunnel, with numerous lift trucks present and a now stagnant drainage canal on the left Here we go... First, concrete was sprayed on the interior of the tunnel.  Next, a yellow liner was applied, then short length metal rods were added in specific intervals. Long steel rods running lengthwise were then secured to those short length rods in order to secure the metallic mesh panels in place. Finally, I'm guessing, will be either a layer of sprayed concrete or tile. What a project !!!  Metallic mesh panels attached to the metal rods running lengthwise  Short metal rods protruding from the yellow liner This is the method for securing the yellow lining to the railbed The yellow liner has only been applied up to a little past the halfway point. The metal rods and mesh panels, as you saw, only make it about 50-100 feet into the tunnel --------------------------------...

   ALL ABOARD --------------------------------------- For this last update of 2024, you will see that lighting is now being added inside the tunnel as well as  additional electrical conduit. The roadbed is complete except for the ballast, ties, and track, and the full length of the tunnel is easily walkable from one portal to the other. Looking west at Roseville Tunnel. All heavy construction equipment has been removed from this portal. Looking west.  Notice the new electrical conduits  embedded  in the concrete tunnel lining on the left (south side) of the tunnel.
